Skinny Stance Night

Since the wind is at treebark peeling speeds outside and the rain has melted two feet of snow, we thought it best to keep the stoke by mounting our bindings as narrow as possible and going night riding. Little did we know how much fun it would turn out to be!
Snowboarding has progressed at such breakneck speeds lately, we needed to bring shredding back to the roots so we don't forgot where we came from. When it all started, bindings weren't very far apart when mounted to the board. As terrain and trickery got bigger and bigger, stance width had to increase to allow the rider to land and ride away from huge maneuvers.
But enough with all that stuff...skinny stance decreases board control, enhances style ten fold and undoubtably will put a smile on your face. The smallest of on-hill features now offer a challenge, even for the professional rider or shredding verteran. Our crew tore around the lower section of Grand Hirafu ski resort, dashing and darting on any and all transitions, banks and the halfpipe. I included some action photos below I stole from the follow cam footage.
It was the best decision we've made in a long time...if you're not sold, you better try it out for yourself. Blotto

The preferred width between bindings in the professional ranks of snowboarding is 22-24 inches (55.88-60.96 cm). On skinny stance night, the average was somewhere around 15-16 inches (38.10-40.64 cm)...or as narrow as the boards would allow.
