One Year Ago Today, Part Two

After a late evening on opening night, day two started well after lunch time…since we’d be working well into the evening once again. The ten images that Frode would be submitting to TWS (on behalf of the Burton Team) would be captured in the evening, using generators, lights and strobes. Since the obstacle was created to allow multiple riders to jump at once, we figured why not shoot it at night to add a little drama to the action photos (and subsequently make the task that much harder).
The daylight hours were used to dial in the timing of each run-in leading up to one of five options…step-down tabletop, FS QP, BS QP, wall ride and a pond skim. Not only were the ladies figuring out the run-in speed and timing, they had to figure out the obstacle itself as well. It’s definitely not easy coming in hot around a corner and doing a wall ride that sits completely opposite of fall line, or jumping over freezing cold water. No worries though, the girls made it happen and by the end of the day most of the jumps were dialed.
Once evening rolled around, Frode got started with his shot list, our cinematographer Brad Kremer set up his cameras and it was a go. The ultimate goal was to have all five girls jumping, wall riding and pond skimming at once…with perfect timing. Doubles are do-able, triples are tough, but asking for five riders to have perfect timing and land their tricks is a whole other ball game. All we could do since we were locked into this plan was hope the ladies had enough energy in the tank to make it happen…try after try after try.
The evening ended up somewhere around two a.m. with some success…we managed to knock off part of the shot list, doubles and triples had worked out and we knew a good nights rest was in order. Blotto
