Flachauwinkl Shred Day
Burton Europe arranged a team photo shoot at Flachauwinkl Resort in Austria, post ski season. We were granted permission to use the Absolut Terrain Park, which included snowmobiles, snowcat, a high-speed quad, the chill zone (that has a mini ramp and spine) and build five custom features. On top of that, the resort also supplied our crew with on-mountain cabins to house the 25-plus riders and media in attendance.
In exchange for their services, we had to invite the Burton European Team, Pleasure Magazine, MBM Magazine and the team photographers and filmers. This would ensure Flachauwinkl some quality coverage in snowboarding magazines and videos around the world, thus driving people to visit their resort.
The set-up couldn’t have been better…an easy start in the morning, a few card games and a bit of internet time, followed by gearing up, piling in the van and heading up the access road to the chairlift. The first chairlift would put us high enough on the mountain so we could snowboard down to the Absolut Park and begin our session.
Since there was no time limit on the day, we had all sunlit hours to do our thing…skate, ride, shoot, film, chill and barbeque. Not a bad way to spend a sunny spring day in Austria. This shoot was a seven-day affair, but I was only able to catch the last day and a half (because of the Iceland Volcano). I hope to get the entire week here next season…it was a really fun event and well organized. Big up to Hasi, Cyril, Birgit and Steffi for making it happen! Blotto
