Saas Foggy

Our first day on the mountain was a mixture of clouds, fog and wind, so we would chalk it up to a 'prebuild' afternoon to get ready for the next two days of scheduled sun. With this plan set, we had an easy morning at The Blick with breakfast and board tuning clinics...followed by gathering up our posse and moving up the hill.
Saas has numerous chairlifts, t-bars, gondolas and trams; so depending on what time of year it is, any set of people-movers are in motion to access the glacier fields and mountain tops. From The Blick we have a short walk to the Felskinn Tram then a hike through a tunnel to reach The Metro Alpin funicular railway. Once the underground train comes to a stop, you unload, hike up some stairs and you're at the top, ready to make your way down to any sort of terrain.
Once we reached the top, our plan was legitimized because the clouds were still moving around in all directions, with no solid clearing in site. After a round of peppermint tea, we decided to see what the snow was like and proceed to an area where the Aspen Posse had prebuilt a mini-shred quarterpipe. Conditions were good enough to spend a couple hours watching the riders throw a few moves and slap high-fives. After the session, we moved down to Alpin Express top station to prepare a sizable wall ride for tomorrow.
Overall a good first day of shredding in Saas Fee for what Mother Nature was dealing to us. Back tomorrow...Blotto
