Bisbee pedal

We said goodbye to Ken at the bike shop, thanked him for his time and proceeded to pull the bikes outta the car and gear up for a cruise around Bisbee.

The city is situated in, on and around desert-mountain hillsides, with the Queen Creek Mine bordering the South end. Every road twists and turns to meet the grade of the mountain and offers a steady climb and descent just about any path you take.

We opted for the two-mile haul up Tombstone Canyon Road/West Blvd; with the reward of a lengthy downhill ride right back into the heart of the city. After this free flowing run, we started meandering around all the various cut-throughs and side streets, keeping ourselves entertained with the fact of every spot we hit was completely new to us. Along the way we ran into dozens of friendly locals, great views and a couple of pet goats. There’s definitely ‘art’ in the air around Bisbee…so many unique houses, paintings and murals along the way to keep the eyes filled with Southern Arizona flavor.

As the sun was setting we caught some tasty Mexican treats at the local joint while watching the Suns beat up the Lakers, then packed up the car and hit the highway back to Pheeni.
