Grub with Grubb
On Friday I joined the Burton crew over at 80 Industrial for Toby Grubb’s official farewell party: Grub with Grubb barbeque. Toby spent the last eight years in the Burton graphic design department producing just about every piece of Burton material you’ve seen since 2002. From scribbling ideas on a paper napkin to joining the team in the field and countless hours in Photoshop, he's done it all.
One story I’ll share with y’all is back in 2006, Toby joined us on a photo shoot mission deep in the New Zealand outback. A couple of hours roll by, we’re getting shots, peeps are stoked…Toby walks up and asks: “yo Blotto, where can I relieve myself out here? Is it cool to just take a leak wherever?” Immediately the crew is together on this one…”no man, you have to take out whatever you brought in, so it looks like you’ll have to empty your water bottle and fill it back up”
So he slams all of his water, walks around the corner and fills it back up. He comes back stoked because he’s relieved and he’s playing by these strict backcountry rules. As soon as he sits down, we say: “just kidding Toby.”
