SLUSH: Powder, Bows and Arrows

After finding the infamous Mountain Men and attending the Mechanical Bull Riding Championships, I had to get back to bizz and document Burton's twenty-eleven version of Slush. This gathering is a collection of the North American Sales Representatives and shop kids from each region who sold the most Burton gear from beginning of winter until now. It's Burton's version of the Zumiez 1K, and if you were one of the winners, you were treated to a three-day all expenses covered trip to arguably the Lower 48's best snowboarding resort, Jackson Hole.
Luckily for everybody in attendance it snowed around 30 inches (76 cm) the same evening the buses pulled into town...that's a dream come true when you're about to tackle the serious terrain that is JH. The masses woke up to a mountain at it's very best and the subsequent shredding that went down was one for your personal history books.
On top of riding great terrain with epic snow, there was a series of challenges laid out for those interested (with the winners receiving very very nice prizes at the closing party). Bow and arrow, lasso, axe throwing and bonus points for certain maneuvers in the Stash park would all be included in this team-based event. The mountain men decided to leave their backcountry getaway to host the riders coming through The Stash, so that was a real treat for everyone to learn the ninja ways of bow, arrow, lasso and axe.
The activities weren't limited to the chairlift accessed areas, so I'll post up some shots from Day Two that included the treasure hunt, highest-ollie contest and a beautiful art show at Rare Gallery in downtown Jackson. Look for that post on Monday. WORD. Blotto
