Road Trip...Mountains to the Foothills

With the Mammoth Mountain photo shoot a wrap, I was in for a drive from the high elevations down to the foothills. The route (and drive schedule) was planned so the afternoon light would enhance all photo opportunities, along with another approaching storm front (clouds to work with!).

The road trip started in Mammoth, departing through the scenic loop, connecting to the 395 North all the way to the turn off at Monitor Pass. After a mellow drive through the pass it was a left onto Highway 88, past Kirkwood Shred Resort, through Lockeford (vineyard city) and then into the bigger freeway system (99 to the 205 to 580).

Part of my driving plan was to reach the point on the 580 where the hills are lined with rows and rows of wind fans. I hoped these giant bladed towers would provide some interesting photos along with finding a few roads off the beaten path.

Part Two of the Mammoth shoot will begin in early June, so I'll be back in this area for another round of 'shred documentation.' Blotto
