Season Ending Double Hip, Shaping

We all wish these giant park features would "build themselves," but it just doesn't happen that way! A few days of pushing snow into the area with one to three snowcats will get the feature started, then the snowcat (and driver) can manipulate the general shape of the double-hip, but after that it's all about hand digging and sculpting to ready the jump for snowboarding.

In the end, this double-hip required a minimum of two snowcats and four days to get the pile of snow usable. Another two days with five to ten people shaping two landings, two take offs and cleaning up the sides got this beast to 'shred ready' status. Daily maintenance on each take-off was required (which doesn't take too long), while having the snowcat clean up the surrounding area for smooth snowboarding (like a hockey rink Zamboni).

All in all the efforts pay off each and every session...but you wouldn't get that session without the effort. Blotto
