A Day in Sydney

After landing in Sydney with Burton Cinematographer Corey Koniniec, we made our way downtown, dropped of the bags at the hotel and hit the streets in ‘tourist mode.’ We had no plan, no transportation, no idea where to go, but that didn’t matter, we were ‘down under’ and stoked to be on a foreign continent.
It just so happened our lodging was near Sydney Harbor, so that meant we were just a few blocks away from the Opera House, Harbor Bridge and the bustling downtown region.
I’ve been to Sydney a few times for various snowboard related events, but had yet to peep game over at the Opera House. This structure is synonymous with just about everything Australia nowadays, so we hoped it would live up to the hype…and it did. It’s a very popular attraction and once you’re there, you see why so many make this a mandatory stop. The design is unmistakable, it sits directly across from the Harbor Bridge (which coincidentally, you allowed to climb with paid guides) and the structure butts up against downtown…all in all, this entire zone is sweet. After lurking around the Opera House, we knocked off quite a few blocks by foot snapping photos, people watching and eventually finding some great eats.
If you’re headed to New Zealand for snowboarding (as we are), connect through Sydney and spend some time in the city, definitely worth it. If you’re planning a trip to Australia I think the schedule will include this fine city. Blotto
